Background —

The Living Well Hub in Warrington is a pioneering new model for accessible care and support in the community.

The location in the heart of the community is to be shared by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WHH), Warrington Borough Council, Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, with support from voluntary and charitable sector partners. Voluntary and charitable sector partners – including Macmillan, Warrington Disability Partnership, LiveWire and Home Start.

It has been developed as a partnership initiative to provide a wide range of accessible healthcare services all under one roof. The scheme incorporates a social space on the ground floor, with clinical services to the first and second floor.

The Brief —

To create a hub for a wide variety of care services in a busy high street location to house a number of clinical and non-clinical rooms.

The ground floor needed to be a flexible and multi-functional space with a training area, meeting spaces, plus soft working spaces- all set within a comfortable and welcoming café environment. Clinical spaces occupy the first and second floors and the look, feel and branding elements from the ground floor are carried through.

The Result —

The result is a bright and welcoming hybrid scheme, which maximises the given space to its full potential. The ground floor interior provides a calming and restful hub for visitors, creating an approachable and informal drop-in service for all.

The interior scheme supports those with impaired mobility and vision, without compromising on homely touches such as comfortable lounge seating and feature interior furnishings. With the upper floor clinical rooms being functional but warm and welcoming.
